Job summary

Amazon UAE is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background to lead design and development of power distribution products for data centers. You will define equipment specifications, collaborate with mechanical/structural teams, and ensure compliance with codes while driving cost-effective, reliable solutions.

You will guide cross-functional efforts from concept through implementation, work with global suppliers and third‑party labs, and own critical uptime

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center.
• Lead new product design, development and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
• Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
• Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
• Prepare, Review and approval of product design and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly and wiring drawings.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation and performance of electrical products.
• Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Support of Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.
• Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
• Having fun while offering creative, out of the box solutions.
