Job summary

Ramboll in the UAE is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead end-to-end electrical design for mission-critical data centres.

You will own MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, and power systems studies, coordinating with mechanical, civil, and fire teams.

This role requires UAE regulatory know-how, leadership of a regional DC electrical team, and delivery of robust, scalable power architectures.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, with 5+ years focused on data centers.
• Lead MV/LV electrical design: HT/MV switchgear, LV distribution, UPS systems and redundancy.
• Experience with high-density data centres (40 kW+ per rack) and 48V DC architecture.
• UAE regulatory knowledge: DEWA/ADDC/FEWA processes and PUE compliance.
• ETAP load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and harmonics analysis.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier III/IV standards and audit frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead MV/LV electrical design for data center projects from concept to IFC.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, Structural, Fire Protection) and BIM.
• Prepare design documentation: SLDs, BOQs, specs, and RFP packages.
• Engage with utilities (DEWA, ADDC, FEWA) for connection strategies.
• Lead commissioning, reliability validation, and CAP/audit participation.
• Mentor engineers and establish regional design standards.
