Job summary

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer Electrical PMT in Abu Dhabi to represent the Owner PMC, assuring electrical systems meet project specs and international standards. You will oversee design review, vendor coordination, and commissioning support, ensuring system reliability and safety.

The ideal candidate has 10–18 years of EPC experience in Oil & Gas or offshore projects, with Middle East exposure and proficiency in ETAP, SKM, Navisworks, SP3D, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 10-18 years of EPC project experience, Oil & Gas / Offshore preferred.
• Exposure to Middle East projects (ADNOC/Aramco) is advantageous.
• Experience with HV/MV/LV systems and substations.

Responsibilities

• Review EPC deliverables including SLDs, load lists and load flow studies.
• Oversee HV/MV/LV distribution design and substations.
• Coordinate technical interfaces across disciplines and vendors.
• Participate in HAZOP/HAZID reviews and design workshops.
• Ensure compliance with project specs and international standards.

1 Role Overview

The Project Engineer Electrical PMT acts as the Owner PMC representative responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems and equipment are designed procured installed tested and commissioned in compliance with project specifications international standards and contractual requirements The role focuses on engineering assurance system integration vendor coordination and construction oversight rather than detailed design execution

2 Key Responsibilities

A Engineering Review amp Design Assurance

• Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables including Single Line Diagrams SLD Load lists and load flow studies
• Short-circuit and protection coordination studies
• Cable routing and tray layouts
• Earthing grounding and lightning protection designs
• Ensure compliance with Project specificationsClient standards ADNOC Aramco QatarEnergy International standards IEC IEEE NFPA Verify Equipment sizing and selectionPower system reliability and redundancyHazardous area compliance

B Power Generation amp Distribution Systems

• Oversee design and execution of HV MV LV power distribution systems
• Substations GIS AIS Diesel generators emergency power systems
• Uninterruptible Power Supply UPS systems
• Ensure System stability and reliabilityProper load distribution and contingency planning

C Electrical Equipment Oversight

• Cover key equipment such as TransformersSwitchgear HV MV LV Motor Control Centers MCC Motors LV MV UPS and battery systems
• Review Vendor drawings and datasheetsEquipment specifications and compliance

D Technical Coordination

• Interface with Process load determination critical systems Mechanical motor-driven equipment Instrumentation amp Telecom power amp control interfaces Civil Structural substation layouts equipment foundations
• Participate in HAZOP HAZID reviews

E Procurement amp Vendor Management

• Review and approve Technical Bid Evaluations TBE Vendor design documents and drawings

Education: Bachelor s Degree in: Electrical Engineering

Experience: 10 - 18 years of experience in EPC projects, with a minimum of 5-8 years in Oil & Gas / Offshore projects. Experience in Middle East projects (ADNOC, Aramco, Qatar Energy) is preferred. Exposure to HV/MV/LV systems and substations is required.

Technical & Functional Skills: Electrical Expertise including power system design and analysis, load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination, electrical equipment selection and specification, installation and commissioning practices. Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards, NFPA standards, and client-specific standards (ADNOC/Aramco). Proficiency with tools such as ETAP/SKM Power Tools, 3D model review tools (Navisworks, SP3D), and MS Office tools.

Behavioral Competencies: Strong technical review and analytical skills, effective multi-discipline coordination, high attention to safety and compliance, strong problem-solving skills (especially during commissioning), and good communication and stakeholder management.
