Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design development for RTA infrastructure projects covering roads, interchanges, utilities, drainage, structures, and associated works.
- Review, coordinate, and approve design deliverables across concept, preliminary, detailed, and IFC design stages.
- Ensure all designs comply with RTA manuals, Dubai authority requirements, and applicable international standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs from highways, traffic, structures, drainage, utilities, lighting, ITS, landscaping, and related design teams.
- Review design calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs, cost estimates, and technical submissions.
- Manage interfaces between roadworks, utilities, structures, existing services, and live infrastructure to reduce clashes and design conflicts.
- Review and respond to RTA design comments, ensuring timely incorporation, tracking, and closure.
- Liaise with RTA Engineering, Traffic, and Safety departments throughout design development and approval stages.
- Ensure road safety audit requirements, traffic staging, and temporary traffic management designs are properly addressed.
- Support preparation and review of authority submissions, NOCs, permits, and approvals related to RTA projects.
- Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, value engineering sessions, and stakeholder reviews.
- Identify design risks and propose cost‑effective, innovative, and constructible engineering solutions.
- Provide technical support during tender stage, including responses to queries, addenda, and clarifications.
- Support construction teams by reviewing RFIs, design changes, technical queries, and site‑related design issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and help ensure design outputs meet quality, schedule, document control, and RTA approval requirements.
- Maintain adherence to the project Design Management Plan, QA‑QC procedures, and document control processes.
- Contribute to as‑built drawing preparation, design closeout documentation, and final project records.
Ideal Profile
- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of UAE experience in infrastructure design, transportation projects, roads, utilities, drainage, structures, or RTA‑related developments.
- Strong knowledge of RTA procedures, Dubai authority standards, local regulations, and approval workflows.
- Experience coordinating with Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Etisalat, Du, and other authorities for submissions, NOCs, and permits.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary infrastructure design across highways, traffic, structures, drainage, utilities, lighting, ITS, and landscaping.
- Ability to review design calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Experience managing design interfaces, authority comments, road safety audit requirements, temporary traffic management, and design risk resolution.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and coordinate design teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Detail‑oriented approach to QA‑QC, document control, design review, and approval tracking.
- Ability to support tender, construction, RFI, design change, and closeout activities in a fast‑paced infrastructure environment.
