Job summary

Simba Talent is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Dubai-based team focused on downhole and completion tools for global oil and gas applications. You will own the full design lifecycle from concept through qualification and support manufacturing, testing and field adaptation.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, 10+ years in oilfield equipment design, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/CADWorx) and experience with API standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years experience designing oilfield equipment.
• Strong background in downhole tools and completion equipment.
• Understanding of completion equipment design calculations.
• Knowledge of API manufacturing principles and packer design (API 11D1).
• Experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx or similar CAD packages.
• Experience with manufacturing, assembly, testing and qualification.
• Strong English communication skills.

Join a Dubai-based engineering team developing and qualifying specialist equipment for the global oil and gas industry.

An established international oilfield technology company is expanding its engineering capability in Dubai and is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Engineer.

This is a hands-on engineering position covering the full design and development lifecycle of specialist downhole and completion equipment - from initial design concepts and calculations through to manufacturing drawings, prototype builds, testing and product qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop downhole and completion equipment, including packer-related products

• Produce and review engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation

• Lead design reviews and support new product development activities

• Define design acceptance criteria in line with product and customer requirements

• Support prototype manufacture, assembly, testing and product qualification

• Develop assembly, disassembly and redress procedures

• Prepare engineering test requests and technical reports

• Work closely with manufacturing, operations and management throughout the product lifecycle

• Manage engineering modifications and ensure design changes are accurately controlled and communicated

• Ensure designs meet relevant customer, manufacturing and industry requirements

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline

• Significant experience designing equipment for the oil and gas industry - ideally around 10+ years

• Strong background in downhole tools, completion equipment or closely related oilfield products

• Understanding of completion equipment design calculations

• Knowledge of API manufacturing principles and their application to packer design

• Familiarity with standards such as API 11D1

• Experience using mechanical CAD/design packages such as AutoCAD, CADWorx or similar

• Practical understanding of manufacturing, assembly, prototype testing and product qualification

• Strong English communication skills
