Job summary

Cognite, based in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to advance industrial data solutions across Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, and Power & Utilities. You will collaborate with data engineers, solution architects, and project managers to deploy data-driven solutions using Python, ML, and GenAI techniques.

The role emphasizes client interaction, workshops, and mentoring, with opportunities to apply cutting-edge analytics within Cognite’s Data Science team.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in a quantitative field or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of full-time data science experience, preferably in Energy/Oil & Gas or Manufacturing.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, production-level Python experience is a plus.
• Experience with ML methods, statistics or optimization.
• Experience with Git and working with external customers.
• Experience with cloud services (GCP, Azure or AWS) is a plus.
• Domain knowledge in Oil & Gas Asset Performance Management is a plus.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy scalable data science solutions for Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power & Utilities.
• Lead discovery workshops with clients to map problems to data.
• Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis.
• Implement ML models in Python and deploy to model hosting.
• Apply GenAI techniques to improve decision-making in customer use cases.
• Build dashboards in Grafana, Power BI, Plotly or Dash.
• Collaborate with data engineers, project managers and solution architects on project deliveries.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
• Support customers and partners in data science tasks with Cognite products.
