Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations) to lead civil works for HV/substation projects in the UAE. You will oversee foundations, buildings, trenches, and infrastructure while coordinating with electrical and mechanical teams to ensure on-time delivery in line with drawings, specs, and safety standards.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with 10+ years in large-scale substations or power infrastructure, strong leadership and stakeholder management, and on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with significant experience in substation or power infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in managing and supervising large-scale substation construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, QA/QC, and HSE standards.
• Familiarity with IEC, BS, ASTM and GCC/UAE regulations is desirable.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; planning software knowledge is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site and travel within the region as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise civil construction activities for substation projects, including foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, and associated infrastructure.
• Ensure works are in line with drawings, specs, and standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, quality, and schedules.
• Review and approve contractor submissions (method statements, shop drawings, submittals).
• Conduct regular site inspections for QA/QC and HSE compliance.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines for integration.
• Act as primary on-site contact between client, contractor and supervision team.
• Manage technical issues, site challenges, and contractual matters.
• Maintain documentation, site records, and progress reports.
• Lead site meetings, progress reviews, and risk mitigation reporting.
• Oversee testing, commissioning support, and handover of civil components.
