Job description

We are looking for a capable, hands-on Senior Accountant with strong UAE accounting experience to help manage and strengthen the finance function of our established industrial equipment trading and distribution business. This is not a basic bookkeeping position or a purely supervisory finance role. The right person must be comfortable handling day-to-day transactions, independently closing accounts, ensuring compliance, improving financial controls, and working closely with our experienced accounts lead. Over time, the role offers the opportunity to assume broader responsibility and provide continuity for the finance function. We particularly welcome candidates from trading, distribution, import/export, industrial supplies, equipment, or similar UAE businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and annual closing schedules, trial balances, financial statements, management reports, and cash-flow forecasts.
  • Prepare and review UAE VAT records and returns; support UAE corporate tax compliance, documentation, external audits, and statutory reporting.
  • Manage bank reconciliations, customer collections, supplier payments, credit control, post-dated cheques, and banking documentation.
  • Oversee payroll, WPS, employee-related accruals, end-of-service benefits, and related finance records.
  • Play an active role in the implementation, testing and ongoing improvement of ERPNext, particularly across accounting, purchasing, inventory and financial reporting.
  • Help ensure accurate data migration, effective internal controls, smooth workflows, and successful adoption across departments.
  • Handle inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, goods-receipt and supplier-invoice matching, landed costs, freight/customs allocation, and cost-of-goods-sold accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate intercompany transactions and reconciliations across group entities.
  • Work closely with the current accounts lead to document procedures, strengthen internal controls, identify errors early, and gradually take ownership of key finance activities.
  • Coordinate as needed with purchasing, sales, warehouse, logistics, banks, auditors, consultants, and external service providers.
  • Assist occasionally with HR, licence renewals, government/PRO documentation, and administrative follow-up; these are secondary to the accounting role.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • At least 5 years of relevant hands-on accounting experience, including substantial UAE experience (preferably 3+ years).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting, and UAE VAT compliance.
  • Strong understanding of UAE corporate tax requirements, payroll/WPS, and practical SME financial controls.
  • Experience in inventory-based trading or distribution businesses, including import documentation, supplier accounting, and landed-cost treatment, is strongly preferred.
  • Qualification in accounting or finance (B.Com, M.Com, ACCA, CA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent); professional qualifications are an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency in modern accounting/ERP software (such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Zoho, Tally or ERPNext), with the ability to quickly learn new systems, troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementation or migration is a strong advantage.
  • Good written and spoken English, numerical accuracy, integrity, and the ability to work independently.
