Job summary

Role Overview

Sendco – Inclusion Leadership is a full‑time education sector role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The position is for an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator who can lead inclusive education provision, support students of determination, manage IEP development, and guide teachers in delivering effective support strategies.

Salary: 14,000 – 22,000 AED per month (market estimated). The role requires a UAE‑based learner and a strong leadership ability, UAE inclusion knowledge, and experience working with students with special educational needs in a mainstream school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification of students with special educational needs and disabilities through observation, teacher feedback, screening, and formal assessments.
  • Coordinate assessments for learning difficulties, disabilities, and developmental needs in collaboration with external specialists.
  • Develop and maintain a clear early identification process for SEND needs across the school.
  • Create, review, and update Individualized Education Plans for students with SEND in partnership with teachers, parents, specialists, and school leadership.
  • Ensure IEPs are implemented effectively in classrooms and that all relevant staff understand their responsibilities.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust learning strategies, interventions, and support plans where required.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, resources, and practical support to teachers and learning support staff.
  • Support teachers in differentiating lessons, classroom activities, assessments, and learning materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Develop and deliver professional development workshops to strengthen inclusive education practice across the school.
  • Work with external agencies including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other specialists.
  • Maintain strong communication between school teams, families, and external professionals to support holistic student development.
  • Ensure the school's SEND provision complies with UAE laws, inclusive education policies, KHDA expectations, and internal school guidelines.
  • Develop, update, and implement SEND policies and ensure these are shared and followed across the school.
  • Use data, reports, and intervention outcomes to assess the effectiveness of SEND provision.
  • Lead regular review and evaluation of strategies, support plans, and interventions to improve outcomes for students with SEND.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the senior leadership team on student progress, intervention impact, and inclusion priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, involving them in decision‑making about their child’s education and support.
  • Organise and lead parent meetings to review IEPs, student progress, support strategies, and future planning.
  • Manage and allocate SEND resources effectively, including learning aids, assistive technology, and specialist materials.
  • Support the SEND budget planning process to ensure resources are used in line with student needs.
  • Promote an inclusive school culture where all students, including those with SEND, are valued, respected, and fully integrated into school life.
  • Lead awareness activities that promote understanding, respect, and inclusion for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field is preferred.
  • SENCO qualification or certification is required.
  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience with a strong focus on supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Previous experience in a SENCO, inclusion, or school leadership role is preferred.
  • Experience working in an inclusive education setting is required.
  • UAE or international school experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities in a mainstream school environment.
  • Good understanding of UAE laws, Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework, and inclusive education expectations.
  • Proven ability to create, implement, monitor, and evaluate Individualized Education Plans.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to guide teachers and support staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, staff, school leaders, and external professionals.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to use student data, reports, and assessment outcomes to improve SEND provision.
