Context The Scale Engineer - Flow Assurance will guide engineers and field teams on the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, and treatment of scale and asphaltene problems affecting wells, completions, and upstream gathering systems. This position helps improve production reliability, reduce well intervention risk, protect asset integrity, and support efficient chemical application by combining technical analysis, field trial evaluation, simulation model updates, supplier coordination, and operational auditing. The role directly contributes to stable production performance, safer operations, better chemical selection, and continuous improvement of the scale management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance to engineers on scale management activities, well problem analysis, flow assurance concerns, and corrective action planning.
  • Analyze scale and asphaltene issues across wells, completions, and upstream gathering systems to identify root causes and recommend practical treatment strategies.
  • Research, evaluate, and apply the latest scale and asphaltene management technologies, chemicals, equipment, monitoring tools, and treatment techniques.
  • Advise on proper handling, sampling, assessment, and interpretation of scale deposits across well completions and production systems.
  • Update and maintain scale simulation model software to improve prediction accuracy, treatment planning, and technical decision-making.
  • Provide specialist input for identifying scale and asphaltene problems and designing chemical or mechanical removal treatment programs.
  • Develop and review scope of work requirements for chemical selection testing, laboratory evaluation, field application, and service provider activities.
  • Supervise monitoring and analysis of field trials for selected chemicals using strict technical evaluation criteria.
  • Evaluate trial results and recommend suitable chemicals for long‑term downhole applications, scale prevention, and asphaltene control.
  • Supervise implementation programs and field operations to ensure all activities are carried out according to scale management system standards and approved practices.
  • Conduct audit and compliance campaigns to verify proper application of scale management processes, treatment programs, chemical handling, and field execution procedures.
  • Monitor scale management system outputs, identify sub‑standard practices or weak performance, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Liaise with chemical suppliers, service companies, consultants, and technical specialists to stay informed on recent developments in scale monitoring, treatment, and prevention.
  • Coordinate with line managers, peers, engineers, field teams, service providers, and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve operational execution.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned technical activities to meet section objectives and support reliable upstream operations.
  • Train and develop assigned staff on scale management practices, chemical treatment programs, field evaluation methods, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Provide input for section or department budget preparation and support implementation of approved budgets and work plans.
  • Investigate and highlight significant budget variances related to scale management activities to support effective performance and cost control.
  • Implement approved section and department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in line with company and international standards.
  • Contribute to approved performance objectives for the section or department in line with the company performance framework.
  • Design and implement improved tools, techniques, and work methods that enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability of operational processes.
  • Identify internal process improvements using best practices and ISO‑aligned standards to solve technical and operational challenges.
  • Comply with HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, sustainability guidelines, international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Provide accurate inputs for section MIS, technical progress reports, field trial summaries, treatment performance updates, and management reporting requirements.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in upstream gathering systems.
  • Strong technical experience in scale management, asphaltene management, flow assurance, chemical treatment, well performance, and upstream production support.
  • Practical knowledge of scale deposits, well completion issues, downhole applications, production chemistry, and corrective treatment programs.
  • Experience designing or reviewing chemical and mechanical treatment programs for scale removal, prevention, monitoring, and control.
  • Ability to evaluate chemical selection testing criteria, field trial results, service company recommendations, and long‑term treatment performance.
  • Working knowledge of scale simulation model software, field monitoring methods, laboratory testing, chemical evaluation, and technical reporting.
  • Experience coordinating with chemical suppliers, service companies, consultants, field engineers, and operations teams.
