Job description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping commercial growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities, particularly with Chinese customers and with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders. This role is critical in supporting the company’s strategic expansion across our global trade routes, building and maintaining strong relationships with Chinese suppliers, clients, and industry partners.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of Chinese business culture, fluency in Mandarin and English, and a proven track record of success in international trade, commodities, or industrial sectors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships,
  • Act as the primary liaison with Chinese suppliers, clients, and government trade offices.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activity, and potential growth areas.
  • Support end-to-end commercial deal negotiations, working with legal, finance, and operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key Chinese industry stakeholders and abroad.
  • Attend trade fairs, exhibitions, and networking events to represent the company.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients and partners.
  • Prepare business proposals, investment briefs, and pitch presentations.
  • Report regularly on pipeline progress, forecasts, and key metrics.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Economics, or related field
  • Experience in trading commodities in the building materials industry such as cement, coal, steel, agriculture, and knowledge of international shipping
  • Experience working with Dubai-based trading firms or mainland Chinese counterparties
  • Native Mandarin, fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Ability toworkindependently and collaboratively with multinational teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills in dynamic business environments
  • Ability to lead negotiations, influence decision-makers, and manage high-stakes client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of Chinese business culture and market dynamics
