Job summary

Mira Construction is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to join our UAE construction team. You will monitor daily site activities, enforce HSE procedures, and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safety records to promote a strong safety culture on the project.

The role requires 2+ years of hands-on UAE site experience, a degree in OH&S or related field, and preferred NEBOSH/IOSH certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years hands-on Safety/HSE experience in the UAE construction industry is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree/diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• NEBOSH, IOSH or other relevant HSE certifications are preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of construction site safety procedures and risk management.
• Experience conducting site inspections, toolbox talks and safety inductions.
• Good knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems.
• Experience handling incident/accident investigations and preparing HSE reports.
• Strong understanding of PPE requirements and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, conditions and hazards.
• Ensure workers and subcontractors follow approved HSE procedures and site safety requirements.
• Prepare and maintain risk assessments, method statements and other HSE documentation.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and regular safety awareness sessions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences and prepare reports.
• Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor proper use of PPE and compliance with site safety rules.
• Identify risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
• Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and project management on safety matters.
• Monitor high-risk activities and ensure permits and controls are in place.
• Maintain records of safety inspections, observations, incidents, training and corrective actions.
• Assist in emergency preparedness drills and response procedures.
• Ensure housekeeping and safe working conditions on site.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE management system.
• Report safety violations and follow up on corrective actions until closure.
