Resident Engineer - STP Infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for a senior engineering professional with strong construction supervision, sewage treatment plant, infrastructure, and site management experience. The role leads AECOM's construction supervision package, acts as the main client contact for engineering matters, and ensures assigned works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with approved specifications, timelines, cost targets, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned construction supervision packages with responsibility for time, cost, quality, safety, and technical performance.
• Act as the client's main engineering point of contact and represent AECOM in client meetings and project discussions.
• Supervise contractors to ensure works are constructed according to specifications, approved drawings, project requirements, and milestone dates.
• Manage and direct the supervision team during daily site inspections, technical reviews, and construction monitoring activities.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and verify contractor compliance with health and safety obligations.
• Resolve site issues quickly by coordinating with contractors, client teams, project staff, and relevant technical specialists.
• Present project progress, package risks, site issues, and action plans to the client team.
• Review and negotiate scope changes with the client and key subcontractors when required.
• Follow up on project instructions, commitments, approvals, and agreed actions until closure.
• Establish and maintain the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan, and related project documents.
• Define program requirements for project areas and monitor the performance of site staff.
• Plan, direct, supervise, and control technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project and site team.
• Assign responsibilities to key subordinates based on their technical expertise and project duties.
• Provide input for performance reviews and development plans for team members.
• Conduct internal weekly meetings to review progress, challenges, risks, and required corrective actions.
• Perform engineering, project management, and construction management activities related to roads, infrastructure, STP, and water treatment works.
• Review technical deliverables, construction programs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support successful delivery of sewage treatment plant and infrastructure works through strong coordination, reporting, and engineering leadership.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of post-graduate experience in design, construction supervision, and site delivery of major infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in sewage treatment plant projects, water treatment plant works, roads construction, and civil infrastructure supervision.
• UAE project experience is essential, with proven exposure to sewerage treatment works and regional treatment plant construction.
• Engineering chartership will be an advantage.
• Understanding of UAE authority requirements and infrastructure approval processes will be highly valuable.
• Strong ability to manage contractors, supervision teams, technical deliverables, site issues, project schedules, and client communication.
• Experienced in reviewing construction programs, specifications, cost estimates, project documents, and engineering submissions.
• Able to lead multidisciplinary site teams while maintaining safety, quality, cost, and schedule discipline.
• Strong technical reporting, coordination, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
• Capable of working on-site in a demanding project environment with multiple engineering and construction priorities.
