The Senior Planning Engineer will provide technical and planning leadership across road and infrastructure projects from early assessment through design development and implementation. The position combines engineering knowledge with project planning, cost awareness, resource coordination and performance analysis to help keep complex infrastructure programs aligned with client objectives. The role also has a leadership dimension, requiring coordination with government agencies, contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary specialists. By reviewing technical outputs, evaluating project information and mentoring junior professionals, the engineer will help strengthen delivery quality while advancing sustainable and efficient infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning activities for road and infrastructure projects from initial concept through design and implementation.
• Develop planning strategies aligned with client requirements, technical priorities and overall project objectives.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and relevant traffic analysis to support infrastructure planning decisions.
• Review road layouts, infrastructure requirements and technical design information for constructability and compliance.
• Prepare and assess technical specifications, engineering documentation and project planning deliverables.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS platforms to support technical planning, design evaluation and infrastructure coordination.
• Analyse project data, schedules and performance indicators to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate project planning activities across civil, transportation, utilities and other engineering disciplines.
• Maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, government entities and other project stakeholders.
• Support project scheduling, budget planning, cost estimation and allocation of engineering resources.
• Monitor planned versus actual progress and provide clear information to project leadership on potential schedule impacts.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises and assess opportunities to improve cost, functionality and project performance.
• Review technical drawings, reports and engineering submissions before formal project delivery.
• Verify that planning and design activities comply with UAE infrastructure regulations and applicable international standards.
• Incorporate environmental requirements, sustainability principles and green infrastructure considerations into project planning.
• Participate in technical and project reviews and recommend practical improvements to delivery methods.
• Provide technical direction to junior engineers and planning personnel while supporting their professional development.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should bring at least 8 years of professional experience in road and infrastructure planning, design or closely related project delivery responsibilities, with evidence of involvement in large-scale infrastructure projects. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is expected, together with practical experience using GIS platforms. Strong knowledge of road design standards, transportation systems and traffic engineering principles is important for evaluating planning and design requirements. The role requires solid project management capability covering scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, cost estimation and value engineering. Candidates should also be capable of interpreting complex engineering information and converting project data into practical recommendations. Knowledge of UAE infrastructure standards, local regulations and environmental requirements is particularly valuable.
