Position Overview

AECOM Middle East is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer specializing in Microtunneling and Stormwater Drainage to lead supervision and delivery of major infrastructure works in Dubai. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with technical specifications, authority standards, and safety requirements, while managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex underground and drainage systems on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead supervision of microtunneling, stormwater drainage, and associated civil infrastructure works across project packages
• Manage contractors to ensure work aligns with approved drawings, technical specifications, and project milestones
• Direct and oversee inspection teams conducting daily site reviews for safety, quality and progress
• Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements and promote a proactive safety culture on‑site
• Review and approve method statements, technical submittals, material approvals, and construction documents
• Represent AECOM in meetings with clients, contractors and local authorities (RTA, DM, DEWA) to ensure project coordination
• Monitor construction progress, cost control and scheduling to maintain project delivery targets
• Evaluate and manage contract variations, claims and change orders in line with project agreements
• Prepare and implement Project Execution, Quality Control and Health & Safety Plans for the assigned package
• Supervise progress reporting, performance assessments and technical documentation for project records
• Mentor and supervise subordinate engineers and inspectors, ensuring continuous skill development and performance standards
• Conduct technical reviews of large‑diameter pipelines, deep shafts, evacuation tunnels and stormwater pumping stations
• Ensure compliance with all RTA and Dubai Municipality standards throughout project execution
• Support quality assurance and stakeholder coordination to maintain smooth project operations

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred)
• Professional Engineering licence or Chartership (CEng, PE) advantageous
• Valid RTA approval as Resident Engineer for Microtunneling Works is mandatory
• Minimum 20 years of experience in design and supervision of infrastructure projects
• Proven record in microtunneling, deep shaft construction and large‑diameter stormwater and sewer systems (600 mm‑4000 mm)
• Demonstrated experience in projects with evacuation tunnels, high‑capacity pumping stations and open‑channel drainage systems
• Strong understanding of Dubai authority approval procedures (RTA, DM, DEWA)
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills
• Extensive UAE‑based project experience, particularly in Dubai infrastructure works
