Job summary

Jobgether, via a partner company, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Protection in a fully remote setup. You will design and implement secure backend systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, collaborating with engineering and product leaders to drive measurable business value.

You will own architecture decisions, integrate with PSPs, and build native risk features while maintaining high reliability and performance in a distributed, remote environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end, from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain robust backend systems, owning solutions end-to-end.
• Develop automation for payment disputes including notifications, deadline tracking, and workflows.
• Integrate with payment service providers and fraud prevention platforms.
• Build a rules and signals engine for risk management and automation.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers and Product to deliver practical technical solutions.
• Contribute to backend development with potential frontend support for complete product experiences.
• Ensure quality, reliability, and monitoring to minimize financial losses.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Help establish team conventions, tooling, and on-call processes.
