Rail Tunnel Inspector – TBM Works in Dubai is a Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced construction inspection professional who monitors rail tunnel works, TBM excavation, segmental lining, grouting, waterproofing, shafts, cross passages, and associated underground infrastructure activities. The role demands strong tunnel construction knowledge, mandatory TBM project experience, and the ability to ensure site works meet approved drawings, specifications, railway standards, QA/QC procedures, contract requirements, and HSE regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect rail tunnel construction works including TBM excavation, segmental lining, grouting, waterproofing, cross passages, shafts, track bed construction, and associated civil works.
- Monitor contractor activities to confirm compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and construction sequences.
- Verify materials, workmanship, testing, installation activities, and site execution against railway standards and project quality requirements.
- Monitor TBM operations, segment erection, tunnel alignment, settlement monitoring, and ground movement control measures.
- Check that tunnel works are completed within approved tolerances and that deviations are properly recorded and escalated.
- Maintain accurate daily site records covering progress, resources, inspections, quality issues, delays, site observations, and non‑conformities.
- Report quality concerns, construction defects, unsafe conditions, and non‑compliant works to the relevant engineering and supervision teams.
- Witness inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities related to tunnel and rail infrastructure works.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, client representatives, and supervision teams to resolve site issues and support timely corrective actions.
- Review site activities against approved ITPs and ensure inspection hold points, witness points, and quality checks are properly followed.
- Support verification of as‑built information, field measurements, completed works, and progress documentation when required.
- Ensure tunnel safety procedures, confined‑area requirements, access controls, emergency arrangements, and project HSE rules are followed on site.
- Participate in site coordination discussions and provide clear inspection feedback to support construction progress.
- Help maintain strong communication between construction teams, QA/QC personnel, safety teams, and engineering staff.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover by verifying completed works, final installation quality, and closure of site observations.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7‑10 years of construction inspection experience on major rail, metro, underground infrastructure, or tunnel projects.
- Mandatory hands‑on experience on TBM tunnel projects.
- Strong knowledge of tunnel construction methods, railway standards, QA/QC procedures, inspection and test plans, and HSE requirements.
- Experience on high‑speed rail or metro projects is preferred.
- Practical understanding of TBM excavation, segmental lining, grouting, waterproofing, shafts, cross passages, track bed works, and underground civil construction.
- Ability to read and interpret approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection plans, and construction procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, non‑conformities, site risks, and construction deviations.
- Good reporting skills for preparing daily records, inspection notes, quality observations, and progress updates.
- Confident communicator able to coordinate with contractors, engineers, client representatives, and supervision teams.
- Strong awareness of tunnel safety, rail project HSE requirements, construction site hazards, and safe working practices.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work effectively in active construction and underground site environments.

Compensation
