Job summary

Mace is seeking an experienced project manager for multiple refurbishment and fit-out projects in a major UAE shopping mall. You will lead planning, coordination, and delivery from design through handover, coordinating with client teams, consultants, and contractors.

You will manage live environments, ensure programme and budget adherence, and drive risk mitigation while maintaining safety and quality. The role supports hybrid working options in a dynamic retail setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline.
• Experience in project management within consultancy or construction environments.
• Delivery experience on retail fit-out, refurbishment or redevelopment projects.
• Experience in live operational environments (shopping malls, airports, hotels, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of fit-out processes, MEP coordination, and stakeholder management.
• Experience managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage full project lifecycle from design coordination, procurement and construction through to testing, commissioning and handover.
• Act as primary point of contact between client, consultants, contractors, tenants and operational stakeholders.
• Supervise delivery of multiple fit-out and refurbishment projects, ensuring programme, cost, quality and safety objectives are achieved.
• Review and challenge contractor programmes, methodologies, resource plans and construction sequencing.
• Coordinate design development, technical reviews and value engineering initiatives.
• Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, issues and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure works are aligned with designs, specifications and UAE regulations.
• Chair project meetings and provide regular reporting on status, milestones and risks.
• Manage stakeholder interfaces and communicate with operations to minimise disruption to mall operations.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, close-out activities and handover.

The Project

Mace is providing project management services on multiple refurbishment and redevelopment projects within a major UAE shopping mall throughout design, delivery, and handover. We are seeking an experienced project manager to lead the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple fit-out and refurbishment packages from design through to handover. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage construction activities within a complex brownfield environment while minimising disruption to ongoing operations.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Manage the full project lifecycle from design coordination, procurement and construction through to testing, commissioning and handover.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the client, consultants, contractors, tenants and operational stakeholders.
• Supervise the delivery of multiple fit-out and refurbishment projects simultaneously, ensuring programme, cost, quality and safety objectives are achieved.
• Review and challenge contractor programmes, methodologies, resource plans and construction sequencing.
• Coordinate design development, technical reviews and value engineering initiatives.
• Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, issues and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with approved designs, specifications, UAE regulations and best practice.
• Chair project meetings and provide regular reporting on project status, key milestones, commercial matters and project risks.
• Manage stakeholder interfaces and ensure effective communication with operational teams to minimise disruption to mall operations.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, close-out activities and project handover.

You’ll Need To Have

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or related discipline.
• Relevant experience in project management, construction management or consultancy environments.
• Proven delivery experience on retail fit-out, refurbishment, redevelopment or commercial building projects.
• Experience working within live operational environments such as shopping malls, airports, hospitals, hotels, or mixed-use developments.
• Strong understanding of fit-out construction processes, MEP coordination, statutory approvals and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrable experience managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Excellent communication, reporting and client-facing skills.
• Experience working within a consultancy or PMC environment would be advantageous.
• UAE or GCC project experience preferred.
