Job summary

Element Search is seeking an experienced Switchgear Procurement Engineer in the UAE to lead end-to-end procurement of LV switchgear components and electrical materials for manufacturing and projects.

The ideal candidate will combine technical understanding of BOMs and datasheets with strong supplier networks, negotiation skills and UAE market experience to optimize cost, lead times and delivery performance.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years UAE procurement experience in switchgear manufacturing or electrical trading.
• Strong knowledge of LV switchgear components and panel-building materials.
• Experience procuring electrical components from UAE suppliers and distributors.
• UAE market experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of LV switchgear components and electrical materials.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, manufacturers and distributors in UAE and overseas.
• Obtain and compare quotations on price, quality, lead time and payment terms.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key electrical and switchgear suppliers.
• Review BOMs, technical specifications and material requirements from engineering/manufacturing.
• Ensure materials meet project specs and standards.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, sales and warehouse to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Monitor purchase orders, lead times and deliveries.
• Identify alternative suppliers to improve cost and availability.
• Maintain updated supplier database and evaluate performance.
• Support cost-control initiatives and procurement margins.
• Manage urgent procurement to maintain production schedules.
• Ensure proper documentation for quotations, POs, delivery notes.

Our client is a well-established UAE-based electrical trading, distribution and manufacturing company with decades of experience in the electrical industry.

The company has an establishedLV switchgear manufacturing division and supplies electrical products and customized switchgear solutions to major contractors, consultants, industrial clients and project companies across the UAE.

About the Role

The client is looking for an experienced Switchgear Procurement Engineer to manage the procurement of electrical and switchgear materials required for manufacturing and project requirements.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of LV switchgear components, electrical panel materials, approved suppliers and the UAE electrical procurement market.

This role requires someone who understands both the technical and commercial aspects of switchgear procurement.

• Contactors, Overload Relays & Motor Starters
• Copper Busbars & Busbar Accessories
• Switchgear Components & Electrical Accessories

Experience with major international electrical brands and their authorized distributors will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of LV switchgear components and electrical materials.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, manufacturers and authorized distributors in the UAE and overseas.
• Obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, lead time, technical compliance and payment terms.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key electrical and switchgear suppliers.
• Review technical specifications, BOMs and material requirements received from the engineering/manufacturing team.
• Ensure all procured materials meet project specifications and required standards.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, sales and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Monitor purchase orders, supplier confirmations, lead times and deliveries.
• Identify alternative suppliers and equivalent products where required to improve cost and availability.
• Maintain an updated supplier database and evaluate supplier performance.
• Support cost-control initiatives and identify opportunities for improving procurement margins.
• Manage urgent procurement requirements while maintaining production and project schedules.
• Ensure proper documentation for quotations, purchase orders, delivery notes and supplier records.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of UAE experience in procurement, preferably within switchgear manufacturing, electrical panel manufacturing or electrical trading.
• Strong practical knowledge of LV switchgear components and panel-building materials.
• Experience procuring electrical components from UAE suppliers and distributors.
• Established network of electrical manufacturers, distributors, stockists and authorized dealers is highly preferred.
• Ability to understand BOMs, technical specifications, datasheets and electrical component requirements.
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills.
• Good understanding of pricing, lead times, stock availability and payment terms.
• Experience working with ERP/procurement systems and MS Excel.
• Electrical Engineering / Electrical Diploma qualification is preferred.
• UAE market experience is essential.

Ideal Candidate

We are specifically looking for a procurement professional who has hands‑on experience purchasing materials for LV switchgear and electrical panel manufacturing.

Candidates currently working with switchgear manufacturers, panel builders, electrical distributors, electrical trading companies or major electrical suppliers will be strongly preferred.
