Job summary

Dubai Municipality seeks a seasoned engineer to provide technical expertise and professional advice on project activities. You will review contracts, legislation, and variation orders, and prepare observations for approval by your supervisor.

The role requires 12 years of engineering experience across disciplines, with a focus on maintaining high technical standards and compliance with policy. The position is based in Dubai and involves coordinating with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (All Disciplines).
• 12 years of professional experience in engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and professional advice on project-related activities to stakeholders within the Department and related entities.
• Review project contracts, standard conditions, legislation, and variation orders per Department plans and directions.
• Assess contractual claims submitted by consultants and contractors and provide observations and recommendations for supervisor approval.
• Propose measures to simplify and enhance standard contract conditions and resolve engineering disputes with amicable settlements.
• Implement modern systems and practices, utilize computer software for architectural design processes, and stay updated with leading project management practices.
• Prepare periodic reports on completed works and projects, highlighting achievements, constraints, and proposals to overcome them.
• Comply with information security and data protection policies and participate in related training.
• Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the position.

Job description

• Provide technical expertise and professional advice on all project-related activities to relevant stakeholders within the Department and concerned entities. Study and review project contractual claims, standard contract conditions, legislation governing contractors and consultants, and project variation orders in accordance with the Department’s plans and directions. Review contractual claims submitted by consultants and contractors and provide appropriate observations and recommendations to the direct supervisor for approval based on business requirements.
• Review standard contract conditions and legislation governing contractors and consultants, propose measures to simplify and enhance them, identify areas of weakness, and develop recommendations for their improvement and development. Participate in resolving engineering disputes with contractors and consultants and prepare amicable settlement agreements, ensuring the protection of the Municipality’s rights and compliance with contractual terms, in coordination with the Department’s sections and other concerned departments.
• Implement modern systems, methodologies, and practices within the area of specialization to enhance the technical standards of projects. Utilize advanced computer software for various processes related to architectural design activities to develop and improve work methods in accordance with the latest developments. Stay abreast of leading practices in project management, conduct benchmarking studies, and submit recommendations to the direct supervisor.
• Prepare periodic reports on completed works and projects, including achievements, constraints, challenges affecting work progress, and the necessary proposals and recommendations to overcome them.
• Comply with information security and data and information protection policies in accordance with the Municipality’s approved Data Classification Policy. Report any violations or security breaches through the channels designated by the Department and participate in information security-related training programmes.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities related to the nature and scope of the position, as assigned.
