Key Responsibilities
- Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed piping design analysis in line with project scope, design basis, codes, standards, documentation, and McDermott procedures.
- Prepare design calculations, engineering analyses, reports, procedures, piping specifications, and technical deliverables.
- Resolve complex piping engineering issues and report major technical concerns to project management and department leadership at an early stage.
- Lead medium or large engineering and design teams when assigned as Lead Engineer or Area Lead.
- Plan and direct piping discipline execution, including scope, deliverables, schedules, manpower resources, productivity, and corrective actions.
- Review project scope of work, specifications, schedule, inter‑discipline requirements, and discipline execution needs.
- Interface with engineering disciplines, project management, clients, certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, and High‑Value Engineering Centers.
- Ensure piping interfaces and deliverables are clearly defined and aligned with project execution requirements.
- Prepare Iso Curve information based on required inputs and Project Level3 schedule requirements.
- Review piping budgets and provide discipline input for project execution plans.
- Assign tasks, responsibilities, and manhour budgets to piping sub‑discipline teams and verify completion within approved budgets.
- Support 3D model reviews at 30%, 60%, and 90% project progress.
- Provide piping discipline input into Level2, Level3, and Level4 schedules and review schedule dependencies.
- Prepare discipline forecasts, identify scope changes, and raise notifications or change requirements when needed.
- Provide piping manhours, schedules, deliverables lists, and piping discipline execution plan inputs.
- Check and approve design philosophies, specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO, and material requisitions.
- Monitor KPI results and take corrective action to improve piping discipline performance.
- Lead piping discipline participation in internal audits, external audits, project reviews, proposals, and technical studies.
- Support performance evaluation inputs for piping team members and guide engineers in applying best practices.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 15-20 years of piping engineering experience in oil and gas, preferably with a major EPC contractor or consultant.
- Strong background in conceptual design, Pre‑FEED, FEED, detailed design, and multi‑discipline project execution.
- Proven ability to lead piping engineering and design teams on medium or large energy projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of piping design, pipe supports, material take‑off, material requisitions, piping specifications, and standard detail drawings.
- Good understanding of project schedules, Level2, Level3, and Level4 planning, discipline forecasting, and manhour control.
- Experience with 3D model reviews, engineering audits, client meetings, certifying authority reviews, and project technical coordination.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex piping problems and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Able to communicate difficult concepts clearly and influence technical decisions across project teams.
- Strong HSE mindset with the ability to apply safety policies and procedures in engineering decisions.
- Comfortable working with clients, project management teams, engineering disciplines, vendors, and execution centers.
