Job summary

EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer - Landing Gear to lead the design, integration and lifecycle management of landing gear systems for UAV/aerospace platforms. You will work across structural, mechanical, avionics, flight controls and safety teams to ensure performance, safety and regulatory compliance throughout development.

Candidates should have a mechanical/aerospace/systems engineering degree with 15+ years in aerospace systems engineering and strong experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering.
• 15+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, incl. 8+ years landing gear design/integration.
• Experience on UAV/aircraft/rotorcraft programmes.
• Safety-critical aerospace system development experience.
• Lifecycle experience: requirements, design, integration, verification and validation.
• Knowledge of landing gear systems (struts, shock absorbers, wheels, actuators, retraction).
• Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic interfaces.
• Knowledge of MBSE, V-model, requirements management and system safety.
• Experience with DOORS or equivalent.
• Experience managing or monitoring aerospace suppliers.
• Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulations.
• Willingness to relocate to the UAE and defence/security clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead landing gear system architecture, design and integration.
• Define and manage system requirements, specifications and baselines.
• Develop interfaces between landing gear, structure, hydraulics, avionics and control systems.
• Lead sizing and configuration trade-off studies based on mission requirements.
• Manage requirements, traceability and verification using DOORS or equivalent tools.
• Support static loads, kinematic, dynamic, fatigue and landing-load analyses.
• Lead/sponsor system safety activities including FHA, FMEA and PSSA/PSA.
• Develop and manage system verification and validation plans.
• Support ground and flight testing, instrumentation, data analysis and verification reports.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace, defence, airworthiness and certification standards.
• Technically manage and monitor landing gear suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review supplier designs, technical deliverables and qualification evidence.
