Job summary

Edge Group in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a senior hydraulic systems engineer to lead the design and integration of hydraulic systems for UAVs and aircraft platforms. The role includes setting system requirements, developing schematics and ICDs, and ensuring regulatory compliance across MIL and aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical/ Aerospace/ Fluid Power Systems Engineering.
• Master’s/PhD preferred in Hydraulics, Mechatronics, or Aircraft Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in hydraulic systems design and integration in aerospace/defense.
• At least 4 years in senior or SME level roles.
• Experience with UAV, rotary-wing, or fixed-wing platforms involving hydraulic flight controls or ground systems.
• Preferred certifications such as INCOSE CSEP or OEM hydraulic design/analysis certification.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for UAV hydraulic systems ensuring performance, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Lead design and architecture of hydraulic systems for flight controls, landing gear, weapon release, and actuation.
• Design hydraulic circuits including power packs, actuators, accumulators, reservoirs, filters, and fluid lines.
• Develop system requirements, hydraulic schematics, ICDs, and technical specifications.
• Oversee integration with mechanical structures, avionics, flight control and actuation.
• Define and lead functional, leak, endurance, and environmental testing activities.
• Ensure compliance with MIL-PRF-5606, MIL-STD-810, DO-160, AS9100 and airworthiness requirements.
• Support FMEA, certification, and technical documentation for regulatory approval.
• Drive R&D by evaluating advanced hydraulic technologies, improving reliability, reducing weight and enhancing system efficiency.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Fluid Power Systems Engineering (REQUIRED)

Master’s Degree or PhD in Hydraulics, Mechatronics, or Aircraft Systems Engineering (PREFERRED)
