Applied Technology and Management (ATM) is seeking a Planning Engineer (Marine and Coastal Engineering) in Abu Dhabi with 5+ years of experience for a 1-year fixed-term project. The role focuses on developing work schedules and budgets, coordinating with contractors, and managing resources on coastal development projects.

The candidate will liaise with surveyors, managers, and engineers, applying environmental sensitivity and cost-effective planning methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience overseeing coastal, marine, geotechnical and structural projects.
• Knowledge of Eurocode and British Standards is required.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead in preparing schedule data and ensure correct scope of work is reflected.
• Integrate inter-disciplinary schedule requirements to establish logical sequences.
• Develop activity durations and cost loading for schedules.
• Review invoices and cost-loaded schedules for payment verification.
• Prepare monthly schedule commentary and critical path analyses.

Overview

Applied Technology and Management (ATM) a Geosyntec Company, is looking for a Planning Engineer (Marine and Coastal Engineering) with at least 5 years of experience to join our practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE for a 1 year fixed term project. Apply your engineering and planning skills to projects such as developing work schedules and budgets, analyzing project specifications and finding cost-effective ways to meet them, liaising with contractors and suppliers, managing resources, and communicating with surveyors, managers, and other engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Takes a lead in preparing schedule data as requested and checks and confirms that the correct scope of work is reflected on assigned schedules;
• Integrates inter-discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties;
• Reviews and assesses the work sequences with the total project plan;
• Establishes and implements methods for determining activity durations within assigned disciplines or specialties;
• Develops quantity release and/or installation curves for assigned disciplines/areas or specialties;
• Reviews and approves invoice verification for payment based on cost-loaded schedules, as required;
• Reviews schedule data, identifies and acquires information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned disciplines, specialties and/or projects;
• Develops specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures, and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions for new work items assigned;
• Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialties and identifies significant activities supporting inter- discipline requirements and identifies critical path for discipline or specialty work activities;
• Identifies, analyzes and monitors schedule deviations for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals and recommends corrective action/work-around solutions for project considerations;
• Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepares and presents the Critical Items Action Report; and
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate under the direction of the Lead Planner-Scheduler.

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering. (required)
• Advanced degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 5 years of related experience overseeing coastal, marine, geotechnical, and structural engineering and construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Knowledgeable of current Primavera Enterprise Systems (P6) scheduling technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
• Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
• Experience with international design standards including Eurocode and British Standards as well as industry practice and local regulations. (required)
