Role Context

The PE Teacher will contribute to the physical development, wellbeing, confidence, and personal growth of students through purposeful Physical Education and sporting experiences. The role requires an educator who can combine strong practical instruction with clear learning outcomes, structured progression, and evidence-informed teaching methods. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons aligned with the British curriculum and school expectations.
  • Develop students ' physical literacy, coordination, fitness, movement competence, and understanding of healthy lifestyles.
  • Teach a broad range of individual and team sports appropriate to student age, ability, and curriculum requirements.
  • Apply evidence-informed and cognitive science principles where appropriate to improve skill acquisition, retention, and student understanding.
  • Set ambitious but achievable learning goals for students with different levels of sporting ability.
  • Differentiate practical activities so that all learners can participate safely and make meaningful progress.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience, leadership, fair play, responsibility, and respect through sporting activities.
  • Assess student performance and use evidence of progress to guide subsequent teaching and intervention.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback that supports technical improvement, confidence, and greater independence.
  • Maintain strong behaviour expectations during lessons, changing periods, sporting activities, and transitions.
  • Establish safe and inclusive learning environments across indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Follow appropriate health and safety procedures when using sports equipment, activity spaces, and specialist facilities.
  • Contribute to school teams, fixtures, competitions, sports days, extracurricular clubs, and enrichment programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment, sporting events, and departmental priorities.
  • Participate in professional learning, instructional coaching, and whole-school development initiatives.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and maintain appropriate professional standards throughout all student activities.
