Job summary

University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) invites expressions of interest from experienced academics for Adjunct Instructor opportunities in Civil Engineering. Part-time teaching is encouraged for professionals in industry who want to teach.

We seek educators with expertise in Structural Engineering, Mechanics of Solids, Geomechanics, and Soil Mechanics to support undergraduate programs. Compensation details are provided for adjunct lecturers per tutorial per trimester.

Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
PhD in a relevant engineering discipline is desirable.
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent registration preferred.
Previous university teaching or professional training experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver tutorials and laboratory classes.
Support student learning through explanations and demonstrations.
Supervise and support laboratory sessions including mechanical testing and failure analysis.
Assist with assessment activities including marking and feedback.
Ensure safe laboratory practices and adherence to university policies.
Collaborate with the subject coordinator and teaching team.
Take attendance and participate in marking as needed.
Offer consultation times to students outside class hours.
Liaise with the subject coordinator before, during, and at semester end.
Input grades into SMP and prepare subject reports; manage supplies.
