Role Context

The Painter supports the appearance, comfort, and upkeep of Novotel and Adagio Premium Dubai Al Barsha by maintaining painted and coated surfaces throughout the property. The role combines scheduled maintenance with prompt repair work, helping prevent visible deterioration and extend the useful life of walls, ceilings, timber, fixtures, and exterior finishes. Accurate workmanship directly contributes to guest satisfaction, property presentation, and efficient hotel maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and surface-finishing work in guest rooms, corridors, public spaces, offices, service areas, and exterior locations.
• Inspect assigned surfaces and identify peeling paint, cracks, stains, moisture damage, fading, or other defects.
• Prepare work areas by protecting floors, furniture, equipment, fittings, and nearby guest belongings.
• Clean, scrape, sand, fill, smooth, and prime surfaces before applying final coatings.
• Repair minor wall and ceiling defects to create a suitable base for painting.
• Mix and match colors accurately to maintain consistency with existing hotel finishes.
• Select appropriate paint types, primers, sealers, varnishes, and specialty coatings for each surface.
• Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other approved tools.
• Produce clean edges, even coverage, consistent texture, and professional final finishes.
• Complete touch-ups and localized repairs without unnecessary repainting of unaffected areas.
• Perform timber treatments, staining, polishing, sealing, and protective coating work when required.
• Apply specialist finishes according to manufacturer instructions and hotel maintenance standards.
• Coordinate painting schedules with Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments.
• Plan work to reduce noise, odor, access restrictions, and inconvenience to hotel guests.
• Respond promptly to urgent requests involving damaged, marked, or unfinished surfaces.
• Conduct routine property inspections to identify areas requiring preventive touch-ups or repainting.
• Track assigned jobs and provide progress updates to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Maintain paintbrushes, rollers, sprayers, ladders, tools, and protective equipment in safe working condition.
• Keep paint storage areas and workspaces clean, organized, and properly ventilated.
• Store paints, thinners, chemicals, and flammable materials according to safety procedures.
• Use personal protective equipment and follow approved handling instructions for all materials.
• Dispose of waste, empty containers, and used materials in accordance with environmental requirements.
• Assist with paint stock counts and report low inventory before supplies become unavailable.
• Estimate quantities of paint, primer, filler, masking materials, and related supplies for planned work.
• Prevent material waste through careful measurement, storage, mixing, and application.
• Support other engineering and maintenance activities when painting work is not immediately required.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment faults, water damage, or structural concerns discovered during inspections.
• Follow hotel policies covering safety, access control, guest privacy, and professional conduct.
• Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards throughout each shift.
• Work flexible schedules, including weekends and public holidays, according to operational needs.

Ideal Profile

The preferred candidate has at least two years of experience as a professional painter in a hotel, commercial property, residential development, maintenance company, or similar environment. Applicants should have practical knowledge of surface preparation, color matching, paint application, timber treatment, touch-up work, and specialty coatings. Experience using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, ladders, and standard painting tools is required. The role demands strong attention to detail and the ability to produce consistent finishes across visible guest and public areas. Candidates should be physically capable of standing, kneeling, lifting materials, carrying equipment, and working safely at height for extended periods. English communication skills are required for receiving instructions and coordinating with colleagues. Arabic or another language would be beneficial.
