Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, age-appropriate Music lessons across the primary phase.
• Develop students' understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics, notation and appropriate musical vocabulary.
• Provide structured opportunities for singing, instrumental performance, composition, improvisation and critical listening.
• Introduce pupils to a broad range of musical genres, cultures, traditions and performance styles.
• Build confidence in solo and ensemble performance through regular practical learning experiences.
• Adapt activities, resources and expectations to meet different abilities, learning needs and musical interests.
• Support students with SEND and EAL through appropriate differentiation and accessible teaching strategies.
• Use instruments, digital resources, music technology and practical demonstrations to enrich classroom learning.
• Establish an inclusive and well-managed environment where students can experiment creatively and perform confidently.
• Assess musical knowledge, practical skills and progress through observation, performance and appropriate written or digital evidence.
• Maintain accurate records of attainment and use assessment findings to shape future lesson planning.
• Give constructive feedback that helps pupils refine technique, musicianship, creativity and performance confidence.
• Identify students displaying advanced musical ability and create suitable opportunities for further development.
• Organise and contribute to concerts, assemblies, celebrations and school performances.
• Lead or support choirs, bands, ensembles and extracurricular Music activities.
