Role Context

The Music Teacher – Performing Arts will teach music theory, instrumental skills, vocal training, performance techniques, and creative expression across assigned grade levels. The role requires structured lesson planning, curriculum delivery, student assessment, event coordination, and the ability to create an inclusive classroom environment where students can develop confidence, discipline, creativity, and appreciation for music. The successful candidate will contribute to school concerts, extracurricular music activities, and student‑centered performing arts programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach music theory, instrumental skills, vocal training, rhythm, melody, listening skills, and performance techniques to students across assigned grade levels.
  • Develop and implement a music curriculum aligned with relevant national or international curriculum standards.
  • Plan and deliver well‑structured music lessons that support different abilities, learning styles, and student interests.
  • Create engaging classroom activities that encourage creativity, musical confidence, expression, teamwork, and performance readiness.
  • Organise and support school concerts, performances, assemblies, music competitions, cultural events, and performing arts activities.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular music programmes, ensembles, choirs, performances, and creative projects.
  • Assess, record, and report student progress in line with school policies and academic expectations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and help them improve musical technique, confidence, and performance quality.
  • Maintain and manage music resources, instruments, equipment, digital tools, and classroom materials.
  • Use technology for instruction, music practice, assessment, recording, and student engagement.
  • Create a positive, respectful, inclusive, and culturally aware classroom environment.
  • Support students in developing discipline, listening skills, collaboration, creativity, and appreciation for different musical traditions.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music with wider curriculum themes and school activities where appropriate.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, students, colleagues, and school leadership regarding student progress and event participation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, professional development sessions, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Follow school policies related to safeguarding, inclusion, classroom management, student well‑being, and health and safety.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Teaching certification or licence appropriate to the UAE, such as PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting.
  • Proficiency in one or more musical instruments.
  • Familiarity with curriculum frameworks such as British IGCSE or A‑Level, American Common Core or AP, or IB is an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students across different skill levels.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity in a diverse educational setting.
  • Competency in using technology for music instruction, learning support, and assessment.
  • Creative, organised, and passionate about music education and student development.
  • Professional approach to lesson planning, assessment, school events, parent communication, and continuous improvement.
