Merchandiser - Retail

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Experience: 3-5 years

About the Company

We are a retail organization focused on delivering relevant products, dependable availability, and engaging customer experiences across physical and digital channels. Our commercial performance depends on understanding customer demand, selecting the right assortment, managing inventory effectively, and presenting products clearly throughout the shopping journey. The merchandising team works closely with buying, planning, supply chain, retail operations, e-commerce, marketing, and suppliers to turn commercial priorities into profitable product decisions. We value practical analysis, disciplined execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our teams use trading performance, customer insight, inventory data, and market awareness to improve availability, sell-through, margin, and customer satisfaction. This role joins a hands‑on environment where merchandisers are expected to connect product decisions with measurable retail outcomes. The successful candidate will contribute to a responsive merchandising operation that balances customer needs, commercial targets, stock health, and operational realities across the business.

About the Role

The Merchandiser owns the day‑to‑day commercial performance of an assigned product category or portfolio. Through sales analysis, assortment management, stock planning, replenishment coordination, pricing input, and trading actions, the role improves availability, sell‑through, margin, and inventory productivity. This position connects product decisions with customer demand and operational execution across stores and digital channels. Success means the right products are available at the right time, stock is balanced against demand, trading risks are identified early, and commercial opportunities are acted on quickly. The role suits a hands‑on retail professional who can combine analytical thinking with practical coordination and confident communication across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily and weekly sales, stock, margin, sell‑through, availability, and inventory‑cover performance to identify risks, opportunities, and actions for assigned categories.
  • Maintain accurate assortment, range, option, pricing, and product information in relevant systems, ensuring commercial teams and customer‑facing channels have dependable data.
  • Coordinate replenishment, allocation, stock transfers, and availability actions with planning, supply chain, stores, and e‑commerce teams to protect sales and reduce lost opportunities.
  • Support seasonal range reviews, product launches, promotional activity, and assortment changes by preparing analysis, recommendations, timelines, and execution requirements.
  • Identify slow‑moving, excess, aged, and at‑risk inventory, recommending markdowns, transfers, promotions, or other actions that improve stock productivity and protect margin.
  • Prepare regular trading reports and category updates, translating data into clear recommendations for buyers, planners, retail operations, marketing, and senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal partners to resolve product, delivery, data, quality, and availability issues that affect customer experience or commercial performance.
Essential Skills & Technologies
  • Strong retail merchandising and trading‑analysis capability, including sales, stock, margin, sell‑through, availability, inventory cover, markdown, and forecast interpretation.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or equivalent spreadsheet tools, with ability to use formulas, pivot tables, dashboards, and data analysis to support timely commercial decisions.
  • Experience using merchandising, enterprise resource planning, inventory, product information, or e-commerce systems to manage product data, stock visibility, and trading workflows.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills, with confidence working across buying, planning, supply chain, stores, e‑commerce, suppliers, and commercial leadership.
  • Organized and detail‑focused approach to managing product information, reporting deadlines, action tracking, priorities, and follow‑through in a fast‑moving retail environment.
Additional Plus
  • Experience in sports, lifestyle, fashion, footwear, consumer goods, or another customer‑led retail category with seasonal demand and multi‑channel trading.
  • Familiarity with allocation, assortment planning, open‑to‑buy processes, promotional forecasting, markdown management, or category performance reporting.
  • Experience working with omnichannel retail models where store and e‑commerce availability, pricing, and product presentation must remain aligned.
What You'll Bring
  • 3-5 years of merchandising, planning, trading, category, inventory, or related retail experience, with practical understanding of how product and stock decisions influence commercial performance.
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, supported by strong numerical ability and confidence interpreting retail data to make clear, timely recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage a product portfolio or category, track performance, identify risks, and coordinate actions that improve availability, sell‑through, margin, and stock productivity.
  • Strong Excel or spreadsheet capability and experience working with retail systems, reports, product data, stock information, and commercial dashboards.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with ability to work effectively across buying, planning, supply chain, stores, e‑commerce, suppliers, and support functions.
  • Immediate availability or a short notice period is required, alongside a proactive, practical, and commercially minded approach to a changing retail environment.
Why Join Us
