Job summary

ALEC FITOUT in the UAE is seeking an experienced MEP Coordinator to ensure seamless coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services across prestigious fit-out projects. You will report to the Project Manager / MEP Lead and collaborate with design and site teams to deliver world-class interiors.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in ME/EE, 10+ years of MEP coordination experience in fit-out construction, and strong knowledge of local codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering.
• 10+ years of proven MEP coordination experience in fit-out projects.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes and standards.
• Proficient in MEP design and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Develop MEP plans aligned with fitout construction project requirements.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess MEP installation progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Review and approve MEP design drawings to meet project specifications and codes.
• Coordinate with design teams to address discrepancies or modifications for fitout construction.
• Source, evaluate, and select MEP subcontractors and vendors.
• Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with quality.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of the MEP budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Implement quality control procedures to ensure MEP installations meet standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and testing of MEP systems across construction stages.
• Ensure all MEP systems comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with regulatory authorities as necessary.
• Address and resolve MEP-related issues during construction.
• Work with project teams to find efficient solutions to challenges.

About Your Team

You’ll report to the Project Manager / MEP Lead and work closely with the wider design and site teams. The MEP function is responsible for coordinating services, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring alignment between consultants, subcontractors, and fit-out teams.

Your Role

As the MEP Coordinator, you will:

• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop MEP plans aligned with fitout construction project requirements.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess MEP installation progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Review and approve MEP design drawings to ensure they meet project specifications, local codes, and industry standards.
• Coordinate with design teams to address any discrepancies or modifications required for fitout construction.
• Source, evaluate, and select MEP subcontractors and vendors.
• Oversee the performance of subcontractors, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of the MEP budget.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising the quality and efficiency of MEP systems.

• Conduct regular inspections and testing of MEP systems during various construction stages.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
• 10+ years of proven experience in MEP coordination within the context of fitout construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Proficient in using MEP design and project management software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic construction environment.
