Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in health information management or related field.
• 2–3 years of medical coder experience in hospital or clinic setting.
• Valid AAPC CPC or AHIMA CCS certification.
• Proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
• Knowledge of UAE health insurance regulations and Abu Dhabi processes.
• Experience with Daman, Thiqa, and Abu Dhabi insurers.
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems.
• Strong Excel and Outlook skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Summary

Via Medica International Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Medical Coder cum Insurance Coordinator to join our healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate medical coding, insurance claims processing, billing coordination, and regulatory compliance to ensure timely reimbursement and adherence to UAE healthcare standards. The role will be based at the Via Medica International Healthcare office and will report to the site as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate medical codes using ICD-10-CM, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and other applicable healthcare coding standards.
• Prepare, submit, monitor, and follow up on insurance claims through Daman, Thiqa, and other approved Abu Dhabi insurance providers.
• Coordinate with insurance companies regarding claim approvals, rejections, resubmissions, and reimbursement status.
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical billing records and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Liaise with physicians, nurses, reception staff, and other clinic personnel to ensure complete and accurate clinical documentation.
• Review documentation to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with insurance requirements.
• Assist in applying for insurance network participation when required.
• Generate periodic medical coding, billing, insurance, and operational reports for clinic leadership and the Corporate HSE, HR, and Finance Departments.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH) requirements (where applicable), and internal corporate policies and healthcare protocols.
• Support internal quality audits and external regulatory inspections by maintaining accurate documentation and records.
• Identify coding and billing discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to improve claim acceptance and revenue cycle efficiency.
• Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Nursing, Pharmacy, or another relevant healthcare discipline.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Medical Coder within a hospital, multi-specialty clinic or primary healthcare setting.
• Valid AAPC certification (e.g., CPC) is mandatory.
• Certified in ICD-10-CM medical coding.
• Strong knowledge of UAE health insurance regulations and claims processes particularly in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
• Hands-on experience with Daman, Thiqa, and other Abu Dhabi insurance platforms.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
