Job summary

Target Engineering Construction Co LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical QC Engineer to support Oil & Gas EPC projects in the UAE. You will ensure mechanical construction aligns with project specs, codes and client requirements, coordinating welding, NDT, pressure testing and documentation.

The role requires 6–8 years of QC inspection in mechanical disciplines, with strong grounding in piping, HVAC and equipment installation, and familiarity with ASME/API/NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years in Mechanical QC Inspection on Oil & Gas EPC/Industrial Construction projects.
• Hands-on field inspection covering piping, welding, HVAC and equipment installation.
• Experience with EPC contractors, NDT coordination and inspection documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical installation QC checks against drawings, ITPs and specs.
• Witness welding to WPS, monitor fit-up and coordinate NDT activities.
• Coordinate hydrostatic/pneumatic testing and record results.
• Inspect incoming materials, verify certifications and storage compliance.
• Prepare inspection reports, RFIs, test packs and turnover documents.
• Raise NCRs, drive root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
• Facilitate client and PMC approvals for inspections and handovers.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical QC Engineer to join our growing team supporting major Oil & Gas EPC projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical construction and installation activities comply with project specifications, industry codes, client requirements, and quality standards.

This role requires strong expertise in mechanical inspections, welding and NDT coordination, pressure testing, documentation management, and client interface activities across piping, HVAC, fire protection, and mechanical equipment installations.

YOUR ROLE

As Mechanical QC Engineer, you will be responsible in the performance of the following but not limited to duties and responsibilities;

Mechanical Installation Quality Control

• Conduct daily inspections of mechanical installations including piping systems (CS, SS, HDPE), HVAC systems, mechanical supports, valves, pumps, and static equipment.
• Verify installation activities against approved drawings, method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project specifications.
• Ensure welding, bolting, supports, and mechanical components are installed in accordance with approved IFC drawings and quality requirements.

Welding & NDT Inspection

• Witness and verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welder qualification records.
• Monitor fit-up, welding activities, and visual inspections.
• Coordinate NDT activities including RT, UT, MPI, and PT with third-party inspection agencies.
• Review NDT reports and ensure weld traceability, weld maps, and weld logs are properly maintained.

Pressure Testing & Mechanical Testing

• Witness hydrostatic and pneumatic testing activities for piping systems.
• Verify compliance with project specifications and safety requirements during testing.
• Monitor flushing, air blowing, equipment alignment, and mechanical testing activities.
• Review and record test results for submission and approval.

Material Inspection & Control

• Inspect incoming mechanical materials including pipes, fittings, valves, ductwork, and equipment.
• Verify material certifications, dimensions, and compliance with approved material submittals.
• Ensure proper storage, identification, preservation, and handling of materials.
• Coordinate with suppliers and stores regarding non-conforming materials.

Documentation & Quality Records

• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, RFIs, test reports, red-line markups, and quality records.
• Ensure all documentation remains complete, accurate, and traceable.
• Compile mechanical dossiers, test packs, and turnover packages for client handover.
• Coordinate client and PMC approvals for completed inspection activities.

NCR Management & Quality Improvement

• Raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Monitor closure of NCRs through re-inspections and verification activities.
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives across the project.
• Coordinate inspection requests with clients, consultants, and PMCs.
• Participate in joint inspections, walkdowns, testing, and system handovers.
• Obtain approvals and clearances for inspection hold points and test points.
• Professionally resolve quality-related concerns and technical queries.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience

• Must have 6-8 years of experience in Mechanical QC Inspection within Oil & Gas, EPC, or Industrial Construction Projects
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on field inspection experience covering: Piping Systems, Welding Inspection, HVAC Installations, Mechanical Equipment Installation
• Experience with EPC Contractors and Oil & Gas Infrastructure Projects, Pressure Testing and Mechanical Testing, NDT Coordination and Inspection Documentation, Mechanical Completion and Handover Processes

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Mechanical Drawings, P&IDs, Isometrics, Welding Procedures and Inspection Requirements, Hydrotesting, Pneumatic Testing, Flushing, Alignment and Commissioning Activities, Quality Documentation and Record Control
• Familiarity with ASME, API, ASTM, NFPA and related industry standards, ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, MS Office, AutoCAD, and Quality Documentation Systems
