Job summary

MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to manage MEP packages from drawings through installation, testing and handover. You will lead on HVAC, plumbing and fire-fighting works, coordinating with civil, electrical and BIM teams to resolve interfaces and ensure QA/QC compliance.

With 7+ years of related experience, you will read shop drawings, monitor progress, coordinate subcontractors and maintain HSE RAMS.

Qualifications

• Must have broad mechanical MEP project/site experience.
• Strong ability to read shop drawings, specifications and ITPs.
• Experience coordinating with subcontractors and QA/QC documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical work packages through installation, inspection, testing and handover.
• Plan daily/weekly execution for HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting works.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, electrical and BIM teams for interfaces.
• Monitor productivity, progress vs look-ahead, and take corrective actions.
• Raise WIRs/MIRs and ensure QA/QC closure.
• Track materials, deliveries, storage and shortages; report risks.
• Prepare RFIs and coordinate responses with technical teams.
• Supervise contractors and ensure HSE compliance.
• Support pre-commissioning, testing and handover records.
• Maintain red-line drawings and daily progress/billing records.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Manage assigned mechanical work packages from approved drawings through installation, inspection, testing and handover while controlling daily progress, manpower, materials, quality and coordination.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan daily and weekly execution for HVAC, plumbing, drainage and/or fire-fighting works and coordinate required manpower, materials, tools and access.
• Review approved shop drawings, specifications, method statements and ITPs before work starts and brief supervisors/foremen on execution requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, electrical and BIM teams to resolve interface issues, sleeves/openings, ceiling zones and plantroom access.
• Monitor site productivity, quantities installed and work completion versus look-ahead targets and take corrective action for slippage.
• Raise and coordinate WIRs/MIRs, testing requests and required QA/QC documentation and ensure comments, snags and NCRs are closed.
• Track material requirements, delivery status, storage and consumption and report shortages/long-lead risks before they affect progress.
• Prepare RFIs and technical/site queries and coordinate approved responses with the construction and technical teams.
• Supervise subcontractors and direct labour and ensure works comply with HSE requirements and approved RAMS.
• Support pressure testing, flushing, balancing, pre-commissioning and functional testing and maintain records for handover.
• Maintain red-line drawings, progress records, daily reports, measurements and evidence required for billing/variations.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant mechanical MEP project/site experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting installation and testing.
• Ability to read and interpret coordinated shop drawings, specifications, BOQs and method statements.
• Experience with WIR/MIR processes, material control, subcontractor coordination and progress reporting.
• UAE/GCC building-project experience is strongly preferred.
• AutoCAD and strong MS Office skills; Revit/BIM familiarity is an advantage.
• Strong site leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
