Overview of the Role

Working within the Automall Used Car Preparation Department and reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Master Technician provides high-level diagnostic and technical support across workshop activities. Although the position has no direct reports, it plays an important technical leadership role. The Master Technician will help colleagues resolve difficult or recurring faults, strengthen first-time repair performance, identify development needs, and support continuous improvements in workshop processes and working methods.

What You Will Do

• Diagnose complex mechanical and technical vehicle faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Support junior and senior technicians with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair activities.
• Provide expert technical guidance on difficult, recurring, or unusual vehicle concerns.
• Help ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time, reducing repeat repairs and return jobs.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and repair requirements clearly to Service Advisors, workshop supervisors, technicians, colleagues, and customers.
• Coordinate with relevant workshop stakeholders to support timely and efficient completion of repairs.
• Recommend improvements to workshop processes, working methods, tools, and equipment.
• Contribute to improved technician productivity, efficiency, and utilisation.
• Identify technician training needs and provide technical guidance and knowledge-sharing support.
• Maintain current technical knowledge in line with vehicle technology and manufacturer developments.
• Assist the Parts team with accurate identification and procurement of required spare parts.
