Responsibilities

  • Conduct social compliance and human rights risk assessments across suppliers, operations, and relevant geographic markets.
  • Maintain supplier risk registers and prioritize reviews according to identified labor, sourcing, and compliance exposure.
  • Lead supplier Pre-Qualification Assessments and evaluate compliance with established social responsibility requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to the Human Rights Policy, supplier code of conduct, ethical recruitment standards, and applicable labor requirements.
  • Review supplier audit findings and determine appropriate follow-up actions according to severity and risk.
  • Develop corrective action plans with responsible stakeholders and monitor remediation through agreed completion dates.
  • Track repeated or unresolved compliance findings and elevate significant risks to appropriate leadership.
  • Coordinate remediation measures where investigations identify deficiencies or adverse worker impacts.

Role Context

The Manager - Social Compliance and Human Rights helps protect responsible employment and sourcing standards throughout Majid Al Futtaim Retail and its supplier network. The position develops and maintains a structured approach for identifying social risks, evaluating suppliers, investigating concerns, and ensuring remediation where labor or human rights requirements are not being met. The role connects Procurement, Legal, Sustainability, Operations, Risk, and Human Resources teams with suppliers and other stakeholders. Effective oversight helps reduce regulatory, ethical, operational, and reputational exposure while strengthening transparency and responsible sourcing practices across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct social compliance and human rights risk assessments across suppliers, operations, and relevant geographic markets.
  • Maintain supplier risk registers and prioritize reviews according to identified labor, sourcing, and compliance exposure.
  • Lead supplier Pre-Qualification Assessments and evaluate compliance with established social responsibility requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to the Human Rights Policy, supplier code of conduct, ethical recruitment standards, and applicable labor requirements.
  • Review supplier audit findings and determine appropriate follow-up actions according to severity and risk.
  • Develop corrective action plans with responsible stakeholders and monitor remediation through agreed completion dates.
  • Track repeated or unresolved compliance findings and elevate significant risks to appropriate leadership.
  • Conduct or support worker interviews to understand employment conditions, recruitment practices, and potential rights concerns.
  • Participate in grievance investigations while maintaining appropriate confidentiality, objectivity, and documentation.
  • Coordinate remediation measures where investigations identify deficiencies or adverse worker impacts.
  • Work closely with Legal, Procurement, Sustainability, Operations, Risk, and HR teams on compliance priorities.
  • Support responsible sourcing decisions by providing clear assessments of supplier social performance and risk.
  • Develop social compliance training for internal teams, suppliers, and other relevant business partners.
  • Organize awareness initiatives and supplier forums covering human rights, ethical recruitment, labor practices, and remediation expectations.
  • Monitor developments relating to adverse media, supplier conduct, and emerging social compliance risks.
  • Prepare management dashboards and reports summarizing assessments, findings, corrective actions, and key risk indicators.
  • Contribute to annual social performance reporting with accurate compliance and remediation information.
  • Maintain records supporting governance reviews, investigations, audits, and management assurance activities.
  • Coordinate multiple compliance workstreams across different countries while maintaining consistent standards and follow-up.
Ideal Profile

The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in Human Rights Compliance, Social Compliance, Occupational Health and Safety, responsible sourcing, supplier governance, or a closely related compliance environment. Candidates should hold a bachelor 's degree and demonstrate practical knowledge of international labor and human rights frameworks. Professional exposure to SA8000, APSCA, ISO 45001, SMETA, Sedex, or comparable standards and assessment systems would be advantageous. A strong working understanding of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, ILO Conventions, Employer Pays Principle, ethical recruitment practices, and supplier social compliance frameworks is important. Experience conducting risk assessments, supplier audits, investigations, worker interviews, and corrective action monitoring will support effective performance. The position also requires strong analytical judgment and the ability to communicate sensitive findings clearly to different stakeholder groups. Fluent English communication is required. Hindi or Urdu language capability would be an advantage when engaging with workers and stakeholders across relevant markets.
