Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Legal Counsel to support our global infrastructure and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will be a UK-qualified solicitor with 12–15 years of post-qualification experience, including significant exposure to renewable energy, infrastructure, or marine engineering contracts. This role involves providing strategic legal advice, managing risk, and supporting complex contract negotiations across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities
  • Contract Management & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate complex EPC contracts.
  • Advise on construction and shipbuilding agreements, including design & build, turnkey, and subcontractor arrangements.
  • Manage collateral warranties, novation agreements, and framework agreements.
  • Project Support: Provide legal support throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams during bid, execution, and delivery phases.
  • Advise on claims, variations, and dispute avoidance strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and international laws and regulations.
  • Lead legal risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external counsel, contractors, suppliers, and government bodies.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal and contractual matters.
  • Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters, including arbitration and adjudication.
  • Coordinate with external counsel on dispute strategy and resolution.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
  • 12–15 years PQE, ideally gained in top-tier law firms and / or in-house legal teams.
  • Proven experience in EPC, construction, or shipbuilding sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working on international projects or in the Middle East.
