Job summary

EDGE is seeking an experienced Chief Technician – Solid Rocket Motors to lead machining and assembly of critical SRM hardware for defence and aerospace programs. You will supervise a skilled team, ensure quality, safety, and on-time delivery while coordinating with engineers and suppliers.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep machining expertise, and a commitment to DFMA and aerospace standards. Abu Dhabi-based, with opportunities to contribute to high-stakes projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10–15 years of experience in precision metal parts manufacturing in aerospace/defence/high-performance engineering.
• 5+ years in senior machinist, manufacturing lead, or workshop supervision.
• Extensive experience operating and programming CNC lathes and machining centres.
• Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Hands-on experience with CMM inspection and precision measurement.
• Experience with flight-critical hardware and QA standards (AS9100/FAIR).

Responsibilities

• Lead fabrication and machining of SRM hardware (motor cases, bulkheads, closures, nozzles).
• Manage CNC turning, milling, drilling, and precision machining per drawings and GD&T.
• Mentor machinists and technicians, ensure safe, efficient workshop operations.
• Own production schedules for prototype and development hardware.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using CMMs and metrology tools.
• Provide DFMA feedback on tolerances, materials and assembly methods.
• Develop machining processes, fixtures, and setup sheets for repeatable manufacturing.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Manage external suppliers and verify certifications and traceability.
