Job summary

LevelUP HCS seeks an experienced Chief Technician – Solid Rocket Motors to lead precision metal fabrication, CNC machining and mechanical assembly on SRM development programmes. You will ensure components meet engineering drawings, GD&T and material traceability standards.

You will oversee shop floor operations, drive process improvements, and guide a team of machinists while maintaining safety and quality in a high-consequence aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years hands-on experience in precision metal parts manufacturing in aerospace/defence.
• 5+ years in senior machinist or lead technician roles with CNC turning/milling.
• Experience machining rocket motor hardware or high-consequence components.

Responsibilities

• Lead metal fabrication, machining and assembly for solid rocket motor components.
• Set up and program CNC lathes, mills, drillers to manufacture precision parts.
• Interpret drawings and GD&T to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee processes including flow forming, forging, heat treatment and welding.
• Develop machining strategies, fixtures and process sheets for prototyping.
• Mentor machinist technicians and enforce safe workshop practices.
