Job summary

Wood seeks a seasoned Technical Safety engineer in Abu Dhabi to provide expertise in all Technical Safety matters and ensure compliance with ADNOC standards.

The role requires coordinating with EPC Contractors, performing technical reviews, and supporting project management through commissioning phases while upholding high safety and engineering integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical team and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in all Technical Safety matters.
  • Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
  • Coordinate, monitor and handle Technical Safety design and engineering with EPC Contractor as per project expectations and timelines.
  • Collaborate with IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering/Operation/Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality engineering execution and integrity.
  • Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Technical Safety deliverables to ensure design quality and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Ensure integration and coordination within the IPMT Technical Safety Team and with Contractors.
  • Review and approve Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor’s Technical Safety design activities for compliance with ADNOC project specs.
  • Contribute input in development and analysis of design options and business models for optimization.

  • Ensure quality Technical Safety Engineering Consultant’s & EPC Contractor’s Technical Safety design activities

  • Review and approval of Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor’s work and ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best industry practices

  • Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models. Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.

  • Participate in teams for equipment sizing / equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.

  • Ensure that the facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.

  • Ensure full utilization of the existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for the new projects.

  • Participate in layout reviews, Model review, design reviews, and technical workshops.

  • Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.

  • Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.

  • Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning & commissioning

  • Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization

  • Interface with Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers in Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department

  • Interface regularly with Contractor’s Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as and when required


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills

  • Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards

  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software

  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems
