Job summary

Wood is seeking a senior Technical Safety specialist in Abu Dhabi to provide expertise in all Technical Safety matters and ensure design and engineering compliance with ADNOC standards.

You will coordinate with EPC contractors and IPMT teams, review safety deliverables, and support project managers across the Engineering Management Organization to deliver safe, compliant facilities for oil and gas projects in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 15+ years of relevant oil and gas experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with relevant international codes and standards.
• Knowledge of engineering software and general business software.
• Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing and coordinating to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Technical Safety reviews, bid evaluations and performance assessments.
• Ensure integration and coordination within the IPMT Technical Safety Team and with EPC Contractors.
• Review and approve Engineering Consultant’s and EPC Contractor’s Technical Safety work for ADNOC project compliance.
• Provide input on design optimization, validation and option development.
• Participate in equipment sizing/selection with a focus on standardization and optimization.
• Ensure facilities are designed per corporate guidelines for environment and health aspects.
• Assist during installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Interface with managers, team leaders and engineers across technical departments and projects.

• Coordinate, monitor and handle Technical Safety design and engineering with EPC Contractor as per project expectation and complete the same within the time frame
• Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering / Operation / Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality Discipline Engineering execution and integrity etc.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Technical Safety deliverables developed by engineering consultants/contractors, ensuring design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integration of overall Technical Safety team and overall coordination within IPMT Technical Safety Team
• Ensure quality Technical Safety Engineering Consultant’s & EPC Contractor’s Technical Safety design activities

• Participate in teams for equipment sizing / equipment selection considering optimisation and standardisation
• Ensure that the facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects
• Ensure full utilisation of existing facilities while optimising the facilities required for new projects
• Participate in layout reviews, model review, design reviews, and technical workshops
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers
• Coordinate technical reviews, bid evaluation and performance evaluation
• Provide technical assistance during installation, pre‑commissioning & commissioning
• Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization
• Interface with Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers in Company’s Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department
• Interface regularly with Contractor’s Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as and when required
