Job summary

Wood in Abu Dhabi invites a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to provide expert instrument design and engineering within ADNOC standards. You’ll ensure compliance, coordinate with EPC Contractors and the IPMT team, and review deliverables for quality and schedule adherence.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Instrumentation or Electronics and at least 15 years’ oil and gas experience, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of oil and gas industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with engineering computer programs and common business software.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize and coordinate complex solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Instrumentation design and engineering expertise in project scope.
  • Coordinate with EPC Contractors and IPMT teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Review and approve Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor's Instrumentation work.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, codes and standards.
  • Participate in design options analysis to optimize solutions.
  • Assist in equipment sizing, selection, and layout reviews.
  • Support installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Interface with discipline engineers and project management as needed.

  • Provide technical expertise in all Instrumentation design
  • Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards
  • Coordinate, Monitor and handle Instrumentation design and engineering with EPC Contractor as per project expectation and complete the same within the time frame
  • Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering / Operation / Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality Discipline Engineering execution and integrity etc.
  • Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Instrumentation Engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants/contractors, ensuring design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure integration of overall Instrumentation Engineering. Overall coordination within IPMT Instrumentation Engineering Team
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of Engineering Consultant's & EPC Contractor's Instrumentation Engineering design activities
  • Review and approval of Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor's work and ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best industry practices
  • Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models. Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to design optimization and validation.
  • Participate in teams for equipment sizing / equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
  • Ensure that the facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.
  • Ensure full utilization of the existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for the new projects.
  • Participate in layout reviews, Model review, design reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning & commissioning
  • Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization
  • Interface with Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers in Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department
  • Interface regularly with Contractor’s Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as and when required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical / Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
  • Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems
