9E Global is looking for an experienced Lead Engineer MEP/ Material Handling Systemsto join our growing team in the UAE.
The candidate should have substantial hands-on site experience working on major aviation, aircraft hangar, industrial, logistics, or similarly complex projects. The candidate should be experienced in supervising contractors and subcontractors, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting site inspections, monitoring quality and progress, overseeing testing and commissioning activities, resolving site issues, and supporting the successful completion and handover of the facility to the client.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across MEP and Material Handling Systems (MHS), including the design, inspection, coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and supervision of mechanical, electrical, and material handling systems. The role will also involve coordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered to a high standard and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, safety requirements, and project objectives.
Qualifications
- Qualified graduate engineer in Mechanical/ Building Services Engineering. Masters Degree/Chartered Engineering status is a plus.
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience on site and in engineering consultancy firms.
- Experience in Middle East projects will be highly preferred.
- Experience in airport, aviation, aircraft hangar, or other complex infrastructure projects will be considered an added advantage.
Business Development
- Support in winning business and developing new clients, while strengthening relationships with existing clients.
- Be an ambassador for the Company.
- Develop a network of contacts on each contract. Concentrate on developing a unified commitment of excellence in dealing with site and design team colleagues.
Project Role
- The candidate should have strong site experience in major aviation, aircraft hangar, industrial, or logistics projects, with experience in contractor supervision, coordination, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Supervise construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of MHS and mechanical systems, including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, firefighting, chilled water, compressed air, and specialist utilities.
- Oversee elevators, escalators, moving walkways, cranes, and lifting systems, including safety, testing, certification, and statutory compliance.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, quality checks, and commissioning activities, ensuring proper documentation and closure of deficiencies.
- Coordinate interfaces between MHS/mechanical systems and hangar doors, cranes, aircraft systems, electrical, BMS, fire alarm, civil/structural, and architectural works.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and commissioning procedures.
- Monitor contractor resources, progress, productivity, delays, risks, and recovery plans against the project programme.
- Identify and manage NCRs, defects, punch-list items, and corrective actions through to closure.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, aviation safety, permits, risk assessments, lifting, work-at-height, and confined-space requirements.
- Lead/participate in site, progress, quality, safety, and commissioning meetings and follow up technical actions.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site reports covering progress, quality, safety, resources, risks, and technical issues.
- Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, asset data, training, warranties, test records, and handover documentation.
- Provide technical advice to the Client and design team and support changes, claims, and practical solutions to protect safety, quality, cost, and programme.
- Role will normally be as Project Engineer on projects of various sizes. On major/more complex projects could take the role of a Design Engineer.
- Be responsible for delivering work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager.

- Review and comment on company procedures using the feedback system.
- Applying policies relating to health & safety, quality and training
- Be aware of the design philosophy and engineering principals for the project. Receive a comprehensive briefing from the project engineer before starting on site.
- Have an understanding of the buildability aspects and construction techniques applicable for the project.
- Carry out a cross reference check of all documents including specifications and drawings and bar bending schedules (if applicable).
- Keep a continuing review of the temporary and permanent stability of the building as it is constructed.
- Assist the design team with the co ordination of the engineering particularly when it applies to site matters.
QHSE Responsibilities
- Understand, implement and follow 9E QHSE policies.
- Implement and coordinate QHSE procedures in your workplace.
- Comply with local regulatory authority guidelines and laws pertaining to QHSE.
- Report any QHSE incidents immediately to 9E QHSE Dept. and to legal authorities if required.
- Abide Client/Contractor QHSE requirements and acquire site induction before mobilizing at sites.
