Job summary

Parsons Corporation in Dubai is seeking a Land Surveyor for infrastructure projects. You will perform land and construction surveys, set out alignments, and verify elevations and coordinates to support engineers, inspectors, and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform land surveys, construction surveys, field measurements, and geodetic calculations.
  • Establish and verify survey control points, benchmarks, coordinates, alignments, and elevations.
  • Check setting-out activities for roads, bridges, utilities, drainage systems, structures, and public infrastructure.
  • Verify levels, dimensions, offsets, slopes, boundaries, and construction tolerances against approved drawings.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and inspectors to determine project survey requirements.
  • Review contractor survey data and confirm that completed work matches design coordinates and levels.
  • Identify the locations of existing utilities and services before construction activities begin.
  • Confirm that identified services are marked, protected, and monitored during nearby works.
  • Complete assigned surveying activities within approved schedules, man-hour allowances, and cost targets.
  • Prepare field sketches, survey notes, coordinate schedules, and calculation sheets to support construction activities.
  • Maintain organized field books, digital survey files, sketches, observations, and calculation records.
  • Use total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, levels, and survey software for accurate data collection.
  • Transfer field information into CAD drawings, survey plans, and project documentation.
  • Measure completed work when required for quantity verification, progress assessment, and payment review.
  • Support engineers in checking contractor quantities and resolving measurement discrepancies.
  • Monitor survey accuracy during excavation, earthworks, pavement construction, structural works, and utility installation.
  • Carry out independent verification surveys where construction tolerances or site conditions require additional checks.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of as-built drawings and final survey records.
  • Confirm that as-built information accurately represents the location and level of completed assets.
  • Report survey discrepancies, dimensional conflicts, and potential construction errors promptly.
  • Coordinate corrective surveys and re-setting activities where work does not meet approved requirements.
  • Observe project safety procedures and use surveying equipment safely in active construction areas.
  • Participate positively in health and safety initiatives led by the Resident Engineer and project safety team.
  • Maintain clear communication with project management, site personnel, and contractor representatives.

Role Context

Ideal Profile
  • Diploma or associate degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of surveying experience on roads, bridges, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong practical knowledge of field surveying, construction setting‑out, levelling, and geodetic calculations.
  • Experience checking horizontal and vertical alignments for major civil engineering works.
  • Proficiency in using total stations, GPS receivers, digital levels, data collectors, and related survey equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and specialist surveying applications.
  • Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, coordinate schedules, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Understanding of roadworks, bridge construction, earthworks, drainage, utilities, and standard infrastructure sequences.
