Role Context

The Land Surveyor will provide essential geometric control for infrastructure and utility construction by confirming that site works are positioned, measured, and recorded accurately throughout the project lifecycle. The role combines field surveying, geodetic calculations, setting-out checks, service location verification, quantity measurement, and survey documentation. Accurate field control will help prevent alignment errors, protect existing utilities, support construction progress and provide reliable records for project completion and handover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents relevant to assigned survey activities.
  • Supervise surveying works associated with infrastructure and utility construction.
  • Perform land surveys, field measurements, and required geodetic calculations.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and construction teams to establish survey requirements.
  • Complete assigned survey activities in accordance with project schedules, manpower allowances, and cost targets.
  • Verify setting-out coordinates, construction lines, levels, and elevations before work proceeds.
  • Check existing service locations and support measures required to protect utilities during construction.
  • Prepare field sketches and supporting survey information for construction and engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate field books, calculations, coordinate records, sketches, and survey documentation.
  • Measure completed construction works when quantity verification is required.
  • Confirm that field measurements correspond with approved drawings and project control information.
  • Operate total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and other surveying instruments used for construction control.
  • Use CAD and survey software to process, review, and document field information.
  • Support preparation of as-built drawings using verified final survey data.
  • Check completed works against design alignments, levels, and specified geometric requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies between construction conditions and approved survey information and report them promptly.
  • Coordinate survey activities with inspectors, engineers, and contractor personnel to avoid delays to site operations.
  • Observe established site safety procedures while conducting field measurements.
  • Participate in health and safety activities as required by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
  • Maintain safe working practices when operating within active construction areas.
  • Support orderly filing and retrieval of survey records required for project verification and handover.
Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a diploma or associate degree in Land Surveying or an equivalent technical qualification. A minimum of 8 years of regional experience is required on infrastructure and utility projects.
