Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai is seeking a Junior Sous Chef for the Bakery team to assist with preparation and baking of a wide range of products, maintaining high quality and contributing to new creations. You will report to Head Baker and help manage recipes, inventory, and daily operations in a fast-paced kitchen.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in culinary baking and pastry, strong baking techniques, and a passion for detail.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in the culinary industry with a focus on baking and pastry.
• Familiarity with the Middle East market is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling and pastry preparation.
• Highly organized and efficient, especially in fast-paced kitchens.
• Creative, detail-oriented and a team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing a range of baked goods, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
• Support daily bakery operations, including inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate on developing and testing new recipes and seasonal items.

About The Job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Bakery Kitchen in Dubai, the Junior Sous Chef is responsible to assisting with the preparation and baking of a wide range of products, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency, and contributing to the creative development of new baked goods. Junior Sous Chef reports to Head Baker.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Assist in preparing a range of baked goods, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
• Support daily bakery operations, including inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate on developing and testing new recipes and seasonal items.
