Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai invites applications for a Junior Sous Chef to join our Bakery Kitchen. Based at the hotel, you will assist with preparing a wide range of baked goods, ensure high quality and consistency, and contribute to product development under the Head Baker.

You will work closely with a talented pastry team in a fast-paced luxury kitchen, demonstrate strong organizational skills, and mentor junior staff while maintaining strict hygiene and cost control standards.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in the culinary industry, with a focus on baking and pastry.
• Familiarity with the Middle East market is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling, and pastry preparation.
• Highly organized and efficient, especially in fast-paced kitchen environments.
• Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about the baking and pastry arts.
• Excellent communicator and team player, with flexibility for varied working hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing a range of baked goods, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
• Support daily bakery operations, including inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate on developing and testing new recipes and seasonal items.
• Maintain cleanliness and comply with hygiene and food safety regulations.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to their skill development.
• Help manage production schedules and control food costs to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
