Job summary

InterContinental Fujairah Resort is seeking a Commis II to support the kitchen team with basic food preparation and daily operations, under the guidance of senior chefs. You will help ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and to our luxury standards.

The role requires a culinary degree or certificate, plus kitchen experience and strong communication skills. A flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, is expected in this fast-paced environment at a luxury, five-star resort.

Qualifications

• Completion of a degree or certificate in culinary arts.
• Previous kitchen or culinary experience; experience as a Chef or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, kitchen hygiene, HACCP, and food safety standards.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
• Physically able to lift, push, pull, bend, and kneel as required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the kitchen team with daily operations and food preparation.
• Follow instructions from Chefs to ensure food is prepared safely and to standard.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping and portioning.
• Assist with mise en place and basic food preparation.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and sanitation.
• Ensure proper storage and FIFO rotation of ingredients.
• Follow all hotel SOPs, safety and hygiene procedures.
• Keep workstations and equipment clean and organized.
