Job summary

Commis I position in a luxury hotel kitchen in Abu Dhabi, UAE, reporting to the Sous Chef. You will assist junior chefs, prepare equipment, and support daily HACCP and hygiene procedures.

We seek candidates with culinary experience in a luxury hotel; postgraduate or hotel management diploma is a plus. Basic kitchen operation knowledge and sanitation compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Culinary experience in a luxury hotel is required, resort experience preferred.
• Postgraduate and/or Hotel Management School, Apprenticeship with the diploma is an advantage.
• Must have basic knowledge of kitchen operation and sanitation requirements in handling food.

Responsibilities

• Ensures kitchen equipment is prepared for use.
• Communication is polite and displays courtesy to guests and internal customers.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and equipment operation per OH&S guidelines.
• HACCP is implemented and practiced.
• Pick up goods ordered from the store or other kitchens
• Acceptance and storage of food deliveries
• Ensure stock is rotated regularly
• Assist junior chefs with daily/weekly procedures including temperature checks, labeling, dating and storage
• Minimize wastage/spoilage
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of work areas, utensils, and equipment
• Participate in hygiene and HACCP programs
• Other duties as directed by supervisor or manager
• Additional responsibilities can be added as per business needs
