Job summary

Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is seeking a Full Time Inclusion Assistant to support students with additional learning needs on-site.

Mamoura British Academy is seeking an Inclusion Assistant for a Full Time, on-site role in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, commencing immediately. The position provides targeted academic, physical, emotional, behavioural and communication support to students with additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers, the Head of Inclusion and specialist professionals, the Inclusion Assistant will help students access the curriculum, work towards individual education goals and develop greater independence within the school environment.

Student Inclusion Support

• Support individual students within groups or on a one-to-one basis, inside and outside the classroom.
• Help students participate fully in learning and other activities throughout the school day.
• Support students with academic, physical, emotional, behavioural and communication needs.
• Assist with the implementation of individual education programmes and activities linked to IEP goals.
• Contribute to monitoring student progress and attainment.
• Promote student independence by teaching clear and meaningful learning strategies.
• Support students in classrooms, specialist lessons and other school settings.
• Maintain a professional approach to student well-being, inclusion and safety.

Learning and Curriculum Access

• Provide individual instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Support group instruction where appropriate.
• Demonstrate instructional activities to help students understand learning tasks.
• Prepare resources and adapted materials that enable identified students to access the curriculum.
• Scaffold classroom learning according to individual student needs.
• Monitor work assigned by teachers and support students while tasks are in progress.
• Help students remain focused and engaged with assigned learning.
• Reinforce student achievement and communicate progress to the responsible teacher.
• Support appropriate differentiation of learning activities.

Individual Education and Intervention Support

• Work towards identified student goals established through individual education planning.
• Contribute relevant observations to the monitoring of student progress.
• Attend appropriate intervention sessions involving speech and language therapy, occupational therapy or ABA therapy.
• Deliver agreed follow-up interventions where required to help students generalise and consolidate targeted skills.
• Work with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other professionals when needed.
• Attend relevant professional meetings and training sessions.

Behaviour and Personal Development

• Support students in developing social and communication skills.
• Promote student self-esteem and positive participation in school life.
• Reinforce appropriate behaviour in accordance with whole-school policy.
• Support the implementation of agreed approaches for individual behavioural needs.
• Help maintain a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Participate in extracurricular activities, trips and school visits where required.

Teacher and School Support

• Build effective working relationships with homeroom and subject teachers.
• Communicate regularly and openly with relevant teaching staff.
• Assist teachers in maintaining appropriate student records.
• Support the aims, policies and expectations of Mamoura British Academy.
• Maintain appropriate standards of punctuality, attendance and professional presentation.
• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Follow the school 's code of conduct and applicable policies.
• Experienced Inclusion Assistants may be asked to mentor newly appointed Inclusion Assistants.
• Newly appointed Inclusion Assistants may participate in mentoring arrangements.
• Undertake other appropriate duties requested by the Principal or Head of Inclusion.

Confidentiality and Professional Conduct

• Maintain confidentiality when handling information concerning students.
• Follow established communication protocols regarding contact with parents.
• Recognise that formal parent communication concerning individual student needs is managed by the Head of Inclusion, homeroom teachers and subject teachers.
• Treat all members of the school community professionally and respectfully.

Qualifications

• Diploma qualification in SEN.
• English language skills appropriate to the school curriculum.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of SEN experience.
• At least 2 years of experience working within a school setting.
